Quordle Chill Today: Hints and Answers
Chill mode gives you twelve guesses instead of nine, and the words come from everyday English. It is the gentlest of the daily puzzles, and the one where you can afford to experiment.
Open the hints below one step at a time. All four answers can be revealed in any order, since nothing here is locked. For the standard nine guess game, play Quordle instead.
This is the quordle.uk daily Chill puzzle, generated on our own schedule and word pool. It is not a copy of another site’s daily set. Every date always produces the same four words here.

How Chill mode works
All four boards are visible from the start and stay visible. Nothing is hidden, locked or filled in for you. That part matches the standard daily puzzle exactly.
You get twelve guesses rather than nine. Every guess applies to all four boards at once. Tiles behave the usual way. Green means right letter, right spot. Yellow means right letter, wrong spot. Gray means no match.
The other change is the word list. Chill draws on common, everyday words rather than unusual ones. If the basic rules are still new, they sit on our how to play Quordle page.
How much easier is it, really
Three extra guesses does not sound dramatic. It changes the game more than the number suggests, because of where those guesses land.
Your first two guesses are overhead in every mode. They cover common letters and rarely solve a board outright. What matters is what remains after them, spread across four boards.
Closing guesses per board, after two openers
Chill gives you two and a half closing guesses per board. That is two thirds more than Extreme, and it is the main reason the mode feels relaxed.
The word list helps as well, and here the gap is real. Rank every five letter word by how often it appears in English. The middle word of our Chill pool sits at position 579. For the standard pool it is 976, and for Extreme it is 3,100.
One thing worth saying plainly. Chill words are not less likely to repeat a letter. Our two pools sit at 28 and 29 percent, a gap too small to mean anything. The help comes from familiarity and from the guess count, not from simpler letter patterns.
A good day to test a new opener
The angle most players miss
Chill is the only daily mode where a weak opening pair does not cost you the run. So it is the safest daily puzzle to try one on.
In the standard game an untested opening pair is a gamble. You learn it was weak on guess four, with three boards open and nothing spare.
Here you can find out safely. Run the pair you are curious about, count how many letters it actually confirms, and still finish comfortably. One puzzle a day under the same conditions makes the comparison fair.
If you want volume rather than one puzzle a day, our main game is unlimited. Losing there costs you nothing. Our list of the best starting words for Quordle gives you pairs worth testing. The wider method sits on the Quordle strategy page.
How the four daily modes compare
Each mode applies a different kind of pressure. Knowing which one you are under should change how you open.
Everything visible, common words, room to spare. The easiest of the four.
One board at a time. An extra guess, but you open partly blind.
The baseline. Everything visible, common words, no cushion.
Fewer guesses and harder words. The tightest budget of the four.
Chill and Extreme sit at opposite ends of the range. Today's hardest set is on our Quordle Extreme today page.
What still goes wrong in Chill
Losing here is uncommon, but it happens, and usually for one of two reasons. The first is spending the cushion instead of using it. Twelve guesses feels endless early, so players fire off words with no plan.
The second is a board that traps you. Four letters lock in, one slot stays open, and several different letters all make a real word there. A comfortable budget vanishes when one board eats four guesses alone.
When that happens, stop guessing at the answer and start eliminating. Play a word that tests several doubtful letters at once. It is fine if you know that word is not the answer. If a board still has too many candidates, the Quordle solver will rank them for you.
Questions players ask
How many guesses do you get in Chill mode?
Twelve. The standard daily puzzle gives you nine. Chill also uses more common words for its four answers.
Does Chill mode have unlimited guesses?
No. Some sites say it does, but the limit is twelve. It is a bigger budget, not an endless one.
Is Chill the easiest Quordle mode?
Yes, by a clear margin. It gives 2.5 closing guesses per board after two openers, against 1.5 in Extreme.
Can you actually lose in Chill mode?
Yes, though it is uncommon. It usually happens when one board has several words that differ by a single letter.
Are Chill words easier, or just the guess count?
Both, but unevenly. The words are markedly more common. They are no less likely to repeat a letter, which surprises people.
Are all four boards visible from the start?
Yes. Nothing is hidden or locked in Chill. That part is identical to the standard daily game.
When does the puzzle change?
At midnight in your own time zone. Someone in another country can already be a day ahead of you. Answer pages will not always match what you see.
Are these the same words as the standard daily puzzle?
No. Chill runs on its own schedule here. The four words differ from the standard daily set.
The standard nine guess set, with the same step by step reveals.
Ten guesses, but the boards unlock one at a time.
