Corrections
We get things wrong. The word lists are maintained by hand, the guides are written by a person, and some numbers change when the lists change. This page explains how to tell us, and where we record what we fix.
What is worth reporting
- A common word the game rejects. The answer pool favours everyday words, so some real words are missing. If you think one belongs, say so.
- A word the game accepts that it should not. An offensive word, a misspelling or a word that is not English.
- A wrong or broken daily puzzle, including a mismatch between the puzzle, the hints and the answers archive.
- A factual error in a guide, including any number that does not match the word lists it claims to come from.
- A tool result that cannot be right, such as a solver shortlist that leaves out a word that still fits your clues.
How to report it
Email [email protected]. Reports that include these four things are the quickest to act on:
- the page you were on;
- the word or claim, spelled exactly;
- what you expected and what actually happened;
- the date, and for daily puzzles, the puzzle date.
A screenshot helps with anything involving tile colours.
Who reviews reports
Every report goes to Jorge Michele, the developer and operator of quordle.uk. He also maintains the word lists, so a confirmed report can be fixed directly. There is no second reviewer. How the lists are built is set out in the editorial policy.
What we will and will not change
We will add a common word that belongs in a list, remove a word that should not be there, fix a wrong number or a factual error in a guide, and fix a tool that does not follow the method described on our methodology page.
We will not change a daily puzzle that has already run, remove a word only because it is hard, add a rare word just because a dictionary lists it, or change a strategy recommendation on request. Recommendations are judgement calls, and the reasoning is on each guide.
