Quordle Not Working
Something broke and you just want it fixed. This guide sorts problems by what you are actually seeing, so you fix the real cause instead of guessing.

How to approach any fix
Not all fixes carry the same risk
Work down this list in order. Save the last column for when nothing safer has helped.

Work through these three questions in order.
Does any other website load normally?
If not, the problem is your internet connection or device, not our game.
Does quordle.uk load in a different browser?
If yes, something in your original browser is the likely cause.
Does it load on a different device or network?
If yes, the problem is local to that one device, not our site.
Still stuck after all three: the problem may be on our end. Skip down to the contact section and tell us what you found.
Loading & blank screen
Quordle won’t load or shows a blank screen
This almost always comes down to one of four things.
Turned off or blocked
Our game needs JavaScript to run. Most browsers enable it by default, but an extension can quietly turn it off.
Blocking game code
Some ad blockers and script blockers stop game files from loading. Try pausing yours for this site only.
An old, stuck version
A stale copy of the page can get stuck in your browser’s cache and never update.
Still loading its frame
Our game loads inside a small embedded window. Give it a few extra seconds before assuming it failed.
Useful test: if quordle.uk loads right away in a different browser on the same device, the problem almost always sits in your original browser, not our site.
Input
Keyboard isn’t responding
This is almost always about where your click landed, not a broken game.
Click into the game first
Our board only listens for typing after you click somewhere inside it. Land on the page but never click the board, and your keyboard types nowhere.
Use the on-screen keyboard
The on-screen keys always work, even when your physical keyboard is not registering. Tap them directly while you troubleshoot.
Try a fresh reload
If clicking in does not help, a reload usually clears whatever the browser got stuck on.
Layout & zoom
Quordle doesn’t fit my screen
Reset your browser zoom
A zoom level stuck above or below 100 percent is the most common cause of a cut off board or missing keyboard row.
Rotate your device
On some tablets, switching between portrait and landscape fixes a squeezed layout right away.
Close extra toolbars
Extra browser toolbars and extensions can shrink your visible page more than you would expect.
Typing & word entry
Quordle won’t accept my guess
There are two very different problems hiding under this one complaint.
Pressing Enter does nothing, no message, no shake. That is a technical issue. Work through the checks above first.
The game responds, it just rejects the word. That is not a bug. It means the word is not in our list yet.

Game state
My unfinished game restarted on its own
Coming back to a clean board usually means you came back somewhere different, not that your puzzle was erased.
Check you are on the same browser and device
Your in-progress game is saved to that one browser only, so opening a different one always looks empty.
Check for private or incognito mode
Private windows are built to forget everything once closed, including a game in progress.
Think about anything you cleared recently
A cache clear, a cleaner app, or a browser reset can wipe an in-progress game along with everything else.
Performance
Quordle keeps freezing or running slowly
Close other tabs
Too many open tabs can slow down any page, ours included.
Restart your browser
This clears out whatever built up in memory during a long session.
Try a different device
If an older phone or tablet struggles, a newer device or a desktop browser usually runs it fine.
Expected behavior
Can’t move between boards in Sequence
This is usually not a bug at all. Sequence is built to be solved one board at a time, in order, not four boards at once like Classic.

Saved progress
My stats, streak, or game restarted
quordle.uk has no accounts and no sign in. Your stats live only in your browser, on that one device.
That single fact explains almost every case of missing progress. A new browser, a new device, a cleared cache, or a private window all start you with nothing saved.
Before you clear cookies or site data: if your streak matters to you, try every other fix on this page first. Clearing your browser’s saved data is the one step you cannot undo.

The core troubleshooting is the same everywhere. These are the fastest first moves per browser.

Quordle exists in more than one place online. The official version lives on Merriam-Webster’s site, and separate unrelated apps use the Quordle name too.

Quordle not working: quick answers
Does Quordle need JavaScript?
Yes. Word games like ours run entirely in JavaScript, so a browser with it disabled or blocked will not load the board at all.
Why is my keyboard not typing anything?
Click once inside the game first. Our board only listens for your keyboard after you click into it, so typing before that goes nowhere.
Will clearing my cache delete my stats?
It can. Your stats live in the same browser storage that a full data clear removes, so try every other fix first if your streak matters.
Why did my streak disappear on a different device?
quordle.uk has no accounts, so stats never leave the browser that created them. A different device or browser always starts fresh.
Why can’t I move freely between boards in Sequence?
That is expected. Sequence is built to be solved one board at a time, in order, unlike Classic where all four are open at once.
Is quordle.uk the same as the official Quordle?
No. quordle.uk is an independent game. If you are troubleshooting the official Merriam-Webster site, some of these fixes may not apply.
Why does Quordle say my word is invalid?
That is not a loading problem. It means the word is not in our list yet. Our valid words page covers this in full.
What should I do if nothing here fixes it?
Contact us with your browser, device, and what you are seeing. That is usually enough for us to reproduce and fix a real bug.
